Associate Professor Evan Ingley heads the Cell Signalling group, which has an interest in understanding the signalling networks of both normal and diseased cells in blood development and cancer. Evan completed his PhD at The Australian National University working on the cytokine Interleukin-5 and its receptor. For his postdoctoral he moved to Switzerland, the Friedrich Miescher Institute, with Dr Brian Hemmings who had recently identified the new oncogene Akt/PKB and Evan worked on understanding its regulation through protein-protein as well as protein-lipid interactions. On returning to Australia, Evan used his expertise on signalling networks to discover new and important pathways regulating red blood cell development and cancer migration/invasion.
